Tudor Book Blog Reading Challenge 2013

Please read the instructions carefully! A few things have changed.

The Tudor Book Blog Reading Challenge is pretty simple:

1) Choose your "goal" position at court:

Lowly Page (1-3 books)
Squire (4-6 books)
Knight (7-9 books)
Lord/Lady of the Court (10-12)
Groom of the Chamber/Lady-in-Waiting (13-15 books)
Prince/Princess (16-18 books)
King/Queen (19 + books)

2) Sign up here (by leaving a comment below this post) with your name, a link to your blog (if you have one), and your "goal" (chosen from above).

3) Start reading! Any Tudor related book (either fiction or non fiction) you read and finish in 2013 counts.

At the beginning of each month, a new post will be posted on the Tudor Book Blog for reviews to be posted by you. To enter a book, write a review (it doesn't have to be long, just a short overview and your thoughts) and post the review in a comment on that month's post, or post a link to the review (if you post it on your own blog, Goodreads, etc.). A review/link MUST be posted on the Tudor Book Blog to count. Links to these posts will be provided at the bottom of this page.

Each month I will have a new post for the competition summing up everyone's progress so far (I promise, I will actually get them up this year!)

4) All entries must be in by Dec. 30th, 2013. The results will be posted on Jan. 2, 2014.

One lucky winner will be drawn randomly from those who complete their "goal." This winner will receive several Tudor-related items. Throughout the competition, new items will be added to the prize pack. A separate prize will be given to the person who reads/reviews the most books.

You can enter the competition at anytime before Dec. 30, 2013. If you are entering another reading challenge, feel free to use your same reviews/books for this challenge. The more challenges the merrier!

I hope you all enjoy this competition as much as I will! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Good Luck!

Below are the individual monthly posts. Be sure to post your reviews on these pages, not on this page. This page is simply for signing up!

  2. My goal is to be a Knight!! I will be posting the reviews here on the blog, as I don't own a page.

A suggestion.. If the prizes are several items, why don't we have multiple winners? Not just one person... Just a thought! :-)

  33. Having just discovered said challenge, I will be most happy to become a Lady of the Court. I suspect, as an Elizabethan scholar, that I have already finished half the goal and must go back and review those read this year. DeAnna D

  34. Hi
My name is Anjula. I love anything to do with the Tudor period. Realistically my aim is to be a Squire but aspire to be a Knight. I will be reading Henry VIII, King & Court by Alison Weir. This year I have already read The White & Red Queen by Philippa. So I guess I'm half way there to the position of Squire.

    1. But do TWQ and TRQ count? That is not Tudor period so...

    2. Since they have Tudor figures in them (Elizabeth of York, Henry VII, etc.) I am fine with including them, and other literature on the Wars of the Roses :)

  35. Hello! I'm Erica, and I would love to be a Queen, but the reality is I just found this contest, I am an instructor at the locoal community college and the semester is about to begin, and I am starting to work on my Master's Degree. So, time is precious, so I will probably only make it to Lowly Squire. However, I hope to see this run again in 2014!
